Development Experience
I've been playing Rivals for a couple years now, with my activity peaking once the Workshop branch was established. Cubitt was my first finished attempt at making a Rivals character. It was also one of my first serious attempts at pixel art and animation, which I discovered I have a knack for.
I went into this project with no experience in programming a Rivals character, so I enlisted the aid of a programmer in the Workshop community named Splatracer. They worked on the initial coding for Cubitt and really helped me understand the in's and out's of Rivals' GML coding language, which made future balance changes easier for me to do.
Overall, Cubitt was a pretty successful first character! They have over 5000 downloads on Steam, and they're legal in a few major Workshop tournaments. Since after making Cubitt, I've finished several other projects of the same, if not greater quality. Regardless, I still hold this first character in high regard, and I'm astonished at how much character I was able to put into a square with a gun.
