Development Experience
Turnip Boy was a character I had wanted to make for a while, but waited to until after I played through their original game. During the last month of summer, that opportunity finally presented itself, and after playing the game 100% of the way through, I was ready to start developing him.
During the development process, I posted my progress on a Becker College IGDA (International Game Developers Association) Discord server, which some of the developers for Turnip Boy were on. This eventually caught the attention of Yukon Wainczak, the lead producer for Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion, who not only lended a hand in the development process by providing sound effects for the character, but also gave their creator's blessing to the character. It's incredibly rare for a third-party character to get a blessing from their original creators, and those that do are able to have their characters partake in supermajor tournaments. This was an amazing opportunity, as well as a huge motivator to get the character done.
Turnip Boy was showcased, similarly to Cubitt, in a large community works showcase called the Workshop 2Prints. The character was met with positive reception, though they've largely been overlooked by other insanely high quality character releases. Nonetheless, the opportunity to work with the developers of Turnip Boy to make this project possible was an amazing opportunity.
