Development Experience
Operation Detonation (aka: Project C4) was made as a college game studio project. It was a puzzle platformer where the player utilized a variety of explosives to blast their way through levels. It was also my first time working with a large team on a video game. Any prior experience I had working on games was through solo development, so developing Operation Detonation was new territory for me.
My role in the project as an artist bounced around frequently, ranging from level props, to tile sets, to UI elements. At one point, I even had to take up the lead artist mantle, since our lead was absent for a few months. I was also the person to come up with the initial concept for Operation Detonation, though as time went on, the game strayed away from most of that original idea.
After a school year of work, the project was disbanded. The unfortunate truth with game studio projects at Becker is that they rarely ever get finished, mainly due to a lack of quality control and care. Operation Detonation wasn't any different. The game itself is riddled with bugs, the level design is very basic, and the art style was a bit all over the place. Regardless, I'm happy with the assets I managed to get done for the project.
